IS0 26000
ISO 26000 is a set of guidance on social responsibility designed to help businesses contribute to long-term growth. However, ISO 26000 is not a standard for management systems and is not meant to be used for certification, regulatory, or contractual purposes. Its goal is to urge them to go beyond legal compliance, understanding that following the law is a fundamental responsibility of any firm and an essential component of their social responsibility. The support standard, IWA 26:2017 provides on how to apply a management system approach when using ISO 26000:2010 (iso.org).
Who need ISO 26000 Certification?
ISO 26000 provides guidance to all types of organizations regardless of types and location while considering the backgrounds, trends, and characteristics of social responsibility. When implementing ISO 26000:2010, it is recommended that an organization consider societal, environmental, legal, cultural, political, and organizational diversity and economic conditions while remaining compliant with international standards.

History of ISO 26000
In 2002, ISO Committee on Consumer Policy asked ISO to consider developing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) standard as a complement to the ISO management standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 9001. After all, the stakeholders and National Standards Bodies (NSBs) discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the findings on social responsibility. As a result, the conference concluded that it was advisable for ISO to develop a “CSR” standard but recommended to focus on the process which adheres to ISO Directives and is flexible to accommodate the new stakeholders expected other than corporates. The latest version of ISO 26000 was launched in 2010- ISO 26000:2010.
