ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS)
ISO 37001 is an Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) standard that was published in October 2016. It is intended to assist a company in developing, maintaining, and improving an anti-bribery compliance program. It contains a set of controls and mechanisms that represent global anti-bribery best practices.
ISO 37001 requires an organization to set up the anti-bribery policy and procedure to prevent, trace, and respond to bribery when it happens. The organization also needs to appoint a person to monitor the anti bribery compliance, training, risk assessments, and due diligence on projects and business associates, investigation process, etc.
Who need ISO 37001 Certification?
ISO 37001 can be implemented by any organization, large or small, public, private, or non-profit, and in any country. It’s a flexible tool that can be modified to the size and type of the company, as well as the bribery risk it faces.

History of ISO 37001
There is only one edition for this International Standard which was launched in 2016. It was developed to encourage the growth of a culture of transparency and integrity, as well as the expansion of effective procedures to avoid and address bribery issues. The ISO 37001 standard can also assist organizations to understand and analyze their internal processes, particularly administrative ones, and can be especially valuable when the reorganization is required. The latest version of ISO 37001 was launched in 2016, ISO 37001:2016.
Certification Process for ISO 37001
The organization that plans to get ISO 37001 can follow the ISO 37001 certification process below:
- Organizations need to understand the ISO 37001 standards requirements.
- Implement the ISO 37001 requirements in the organization’s process (Fine tune the internal procedure if needed)
- Implementing the new procedure with ISO 37001 requirements
- Select Internal audit team (require competency)
- Conducting internal audit to check on the implementation towards ISO 37001 certification
- Top management review the result of ISO 37001 implementation, objective and other mentioned in the ISO 37001 standard
- Appoint Accredited Certification Body for the external audit/3rd party audit.
- Rectify the finding or non conformity from the external audit/3rd party audit if there is
- Certification Award
